Chasing 193 to win the WACA XI was never quite in the chase as they kept losing wickets at a constant interval. No West Australia batsman apart from Birt could get going. He remained unbeaten on 74 at the end of the innings while no one else even crossed 15.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st warm-up match against the WACA XI. Though India had a poor start as opener Rohit Sharma got run-out on the team score of 12 while he was batting on 6. Virat Kohli walked in at number 3 to join Dhawan who was playing his shots and looked in form; Kohli got in his grooves soon and both the batsmen matches each other shot by shot.

After Kohli got out skipper Dhoni walked in and started playing the big shots immediately. At the end of 20 overs the Indian team managed 192 runs for the loss of 4 wickets with a run rate of 9.60.

The Indian team on the tour of Australia is playing the first warm-up match against the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA XI) at the WACA, Perth. The touring team will play a couple of practice matches with one T20 and an ODI before starting the ODI series against Australia from the 12th at Perth. Team India is fielding their full squad of 15 members in the match while the opposition team has announced the XI players for the tie.
