India vs Australia: Matthew Hayden predicts the highest run-scorer and wicket-taker of the ODI series

The Australian tour of India has kickstarted on Sunday with the T20 Internationals. However, it will be the ODIs that will be the centre of attraction for all the fans. This is going to be India’s last limited-overs assignment before the World Cup begins.

Former Australian cricketer and commentator Matthew Hayden didn’t step back at making some bold predictions. Talking about the One Dayers, Hayden foretold the highest run scorer and wicket taker in the series. He felt that both the cricketers will belong to the Indian contingent.

Hayden asserted that Ambati Rayudu will be leading the run charts in the upcoming series. He was also the highest run-scorer in the series against New Zealand. The 33-year-old averaged 67.33 as he scored 190 runs throughout the series. Ever since his fantastic performance in the IPL last year, Rayudu has garnered a lot of support as India’s No.4 batsman and will be going to the World Cup for sure.

Kuldeep to wreak havoc

Speaking about the highest wicket-taker, Matthew Hayden backed Kuldeep Yadav to lead the list. There’s no doubt that the chinaman bowler has created a ruckus against every opposition with his wrist spin. The youngster has been India’s go-to spinner for a while and has failed to disappoint his captain whenever asked to bowl.

“Highest wicket-taker I think will be one of the spinners for India. I am going to go with Kuldeep Yadav. Every time he seems to play Australia, he makes a nice impact and highest run-scorer I think also will be from India, and I am going to say Ambati Rayudu. I think the No. 4 position, you know such a critical one for India.

I think the top order will have it’s difficulties with our new ball bowlers and then Virat and Rayudu to come in and dominate the series,” Hayden told while speaking to the Star Sports.
