Bangladesh’s tour of India will kick start on Sunday when the visiting team takes on India in the first game of the 3-match T20I series ahead of the 2-match Test series. The Bangladesh team had a lot of issues to deal with coming into the tour starting with the players’ strike. Days before their departure, the board had to announce new captains for the tour as the ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan got banned by the ICC. India, on the other hand, rested their regular skipper Virat Kohli. The vice-captain Rohit Sharma will take charge against Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh team.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of the 3-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh:

5 – Only 5 times India and Bangladesh clashed off in an International game on Indian soil. Three of those meetings were in the ODI format; all prior to 1999. The two sides met only once thus far in the T20I format in India – During the 2016 WT20 which India won by a 1-run margin.

8 – India defeated Bangladesh in all the eight matches in the T20I format. Only Pakistan (11 vs Zimbabwe) has won more T20Is against an opponent without losing one. India also won each of their last 12 International matches against Bangladesh since losing the ODI series in Bangladesh.

4/8 – Rohit Sharma has scored four fifties in eight T20I innings against Bangladesh. He amassed 356 runs in those eight matches at an average of 44.5.

46 – Number of wickets Yuzvendra Chahal has taken across 31 matches in the T20I format. Chahal needs four wickets to become the 3rd Indian to bag 50 T20I wickets and seven more wickets to become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket.

65 – India featured in 65 T20I matches since Sanju Samson’s only T20I appearance in July 2015. The record for most consecutive matches missed between two appearances for India in the T20I format is currently held by Umesh Yadav with 65 T20Is between 2012 and 2018.

Samson will equal/break this record if he gets to play even once in the series against Bangladesh. Only five players till date have missed more than 65 matches between their two T20I appearances for their country.

104 – The batting average of Rohit Sharma in International cricket against Bangladesh since the start of 2017. In seven innings during this period, Rohit scored 540 runs with help of two centuries and three fifties against the Bangla team.

392 – Number of sixes Rohit has struck in all formats of international cricket. He needs 8 more sixes to become the first Indian and only the 3rd player after Chris Gayle (534) and Shahid Afridi (476) to hit 400 International maximums.

899 – Runs KL Rahul has scored in the T20I format across 25 innings he has batted. Rahul needs to score 101 runs in his next innings to become the joint-fastest to reach the milestone. If he gets those 101 runs in two innings, he will become the joint-fastest to 1000 T20I runs for India. In case Rahul takes all three innings in this series for those 101 runs, he will be the 3rd quickest to 1000 T20I runs.

1000 – The first game of this series in Delhi could be the 1000th International Twenty20 match in Men’s cricket. This will be possible only if toss takes place across the scheduled T20Is in New Zealand and Australia on Sunday and also in the game in Delhi.
