India and Bangladesh are currently fighting it out in Nagpur in the third and final T20 International with the series locked at 1-1. The visitors won the toss and decided to bowl first with the dew expected to come into play and also got Rohit Sharma’s wicket early in the innings. But India were unfazed by his loss and are being propelled by Shreyas Iyer who is currently batting like a dream.

Soon after Rohit returned to the dressing room, his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan followed suit to leave India struggling at 35/2 in the sixth over. However, KL Rahul and Iyer joined hands to bring the innings back on track with a 59-run stand. The former took the initiative early on to up the ante and slammed an impressive half-century. Unfortunately, Rahul couldn’t continue after scoring 52 off 35 deliveries.

From here on, Shreyas Iyer took control of the innings and started scoring runs at pace. Rishabh Pant came out to bat at five and his Delhi Capitals’ skipper’s batting allowed him to get his eye in.

Shreyas Iyer shifts gears in the 15th over

Bangladesh, after KL Rahul‘s wicket, were looking in control and to cover up one of the bowlers’ over, he introduced Afif Hossain into the attack only to regret it after the first three balls. Shreyas Iyer sensed an opportunity to attack and he made his intentions clear off the very first delivery of the over. Afif delivered it from round the wicket and Iyer nonchalantly launched it through the line over long-on.

Though he didn’t time it well, the sheer power which went into the shot took it over the line. The bowler then changed the angle but to no avail as Shreyas Iyer just stood still in the crease and slammed the ball straight down the ground. The youngster was feeling the heat and when he stopped in his run-up before bowling the third ball, the crowd booed him.

He discussed a strategy with his skipper but nothing changed as Shreyas Iyer went for the third consecutive and successfully connected it, this time over wide long-on. The momentum of the game completely changed in the course of three balls as the Mumbai lad also completely his half-century in the same over.
