India vs South Africa: Rohit Sharma frustrated with Navdeep Saini, advises him to use his brain while bowling

India hosted a three-match T20I series for the South Africa cricket team, that ended up on a draw by 1-1. The first match of series was washed out, the 2nd T20I was won by Team India but the Proteas made a strong comeback in the last T20I which was played in Bengaluru and defeated the hosts by a margin of 9 wickets. During the last T20I, when Navdeep Saini was on the bowling end, the vice-captain Rohit Sharma lost his cool at the pacer.

In the 3rd T20I, Team India posted a total of 134 runs on the scoreboard. Shikhar Dhawan (36) remained the top scorer of the match for India, which was easily chased by Proteas team with 19 balls to spare. Kagiso Rabada did well in Bengaluru taking three wickets of the hosts and was well supported by Bjorn Fortuin and Beuran Hendricks who bagged two wickets each. Quinton De Kock, the South African skipper played the role of sheet anchor and stitched beautiful innings of 79 runs and went not out.

In this series, the Indian team went with their young bowlers to test their skills keeping the upcoming T20 World Cup in mind which is just 12 months away. When hosts were in pressure while they were fielding, in the 11th over Navdeep Saini was brought back into the attack in search of a breakthrough but in his battle to get a wicket, he gave away two consecutive boundaries, which filled Rohit Sharma with anger and he advised the bowler to use his brain while bowling. The pacer was quite expensive on the day as he gave away 25 runs in his two overs spell.

After losing the final T20I match, India remained winless against South Africa in T20I series till date. Now, the visitors will head to play a three-match Test series on Indian soil which will be a tough test for the Proteas after looking their form in recent past. The first Test is going to start on 2nd October 2019 in Vishakapatnam and all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma who is going to get his chance to open in the longest format of cricket for the first time.
