The ODI series between India and Windies kick-started with the hosts taking a 1-0 lead following a grand win in a high-scoring game in Guwahati. Shimron Hetmyer’s 74-ball century held the key in guiding Windies’ total to 322/8 in 50 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma ensured the ODI debut of ACA Stadium in Guwahati didn’t go wrong as the pair stitched on a 246-run stand for the 2nd wicket. Kohli was the aggressor during this stand scoring 140 in only 107 balls with 23 boundaries. Rohit played till the end to finish unbeaten on 152 that came off 117 balls with the help of 8 maximums and 15 fours.

3 – Number of centuries Shimron Hetmyer has scored in his ODI career. He is the first Windies player to score three ODI tons before turning 22. Hetmyer is overall the 11th player with three or more ODI tons before turning 22.
4 – Virat Kohli became the 4th player to score 2000+ International runs in four consecutive years. He is also the 4th player with 2000+ International runs in five or more different calendar years. The Indian skipper is the first to complete 2000 International runs in 2018.
6 – Rohit now holds the record for scoring the most number of 150+ scores in the ODI format. He thus went past Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner who have five each.
8 – Number of centuries in 300+ chases for Virat Kohli; the most by any player. The next best is four by Kumar Sangakkara. Rohit has three such tons and is tied with six others.
8 – Marlon Samuels became the 8th player to be dismissed for a duck in the 200th ODI of his career. He is the 2nd player from Windies to bag a duck in the 200th ODI.
8 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma hit in this game. This is the 4th time he has smashed eight or more sixes in an ODI game. Only Chris Gayle (5) has hit 8+ sixes in an ODI inning more often than Rohit.
Among Indians, only MS Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan hit 8+ sixes in an ODI inning and they have done it once each.
14 – Number of centuries Virat has scored as captain in the ODI format. These are the second most number of ODI tons as a captain by any player after Ricky Ponting (22). Kohli went past AB de Villiers’ 13 ODI tons as captain with this century.
21y 17d – At the age of 21 years and 17 days, Rishabh Pant became the 2nd youngest Indian to feature in all three International formats (Test, ODI and T20I). Ishant Sharma is the youngest who did that at the age of 19 years and 152 days.
246 – The 246-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is India’s highest stand for any wicket in an ODI chase. The previous highest was 224 between Gautam Gambhir and Kohli against Sri Lanka in the 2009 Kolkata ODI for the 3rd wicket.
