A total of 642 runs were scored for the loss of 13 wickets in the second ODI game between India and Windies in Vizag that ended in a dramatic tie. Virat Kohli spent yet another day with milestones with his unbeaten 157-run knock that helped India finish on 321/6. Shai Hope’s unbeaten 123 and Shimron Hetmyer’s 64-ball 94 put the Windies on top as the pair added 143 runs in only 119 deliveries. Indian bowlers pulled back the things to bring down the equation to 14 from the final over. Hope managed to find the fence on the final delivery when they needed five runs and the game ended in a tie.

5 – Virat Kohli now has crossed 50 in all the five ODIs he played at Vizag. He is only the third player to score as many as five 50+ ODI scores at an Indian venue after Rahul Dravid in Nagpur (6 inns) and Sachin Tendulkar in Kolkata (12 inns).

5 – This series between India and Windies is the 5th bilateral ODI series where both the teams scored over 300 in the first two matches. All the five ODI series involved India included three in India. The last of the previous four such ODI series was the India-England series in 2017.


6 – MS Dhoni now has been part of six Tied ODI matches which are the joint-most by any player. Aamer Sohail, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram were also part of six Tied ODIs.

Overall, this was the 7th Tied International game involving Dhoni; equalling Brendon McCullum’s seven appearances in Tied Internationals.


10 – This Tied game is the 10th in ODI cricket involving the Windies; the most by any team. Australia were part of nine Tied ODIs which India equalled with this match.


11 – Windies players hit as many as 11 sixes in this game which are the second most by them in an ODI against India. They hit a total of 13 sixes in the 2011 ODI played in Chennai.


157* – Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 157 is the second highest individual score in a tied ODI game. The highest was 158 by Andrew Strauss in the 2011 CWC game against the Men in Blue which was the only other 150+ score record in a Tied ODI.


321/7 – Windies’ total of 321/7 in this game is their 3rd highest ODI total while chasing. They made 329/9 against Sri Lanka in the 2016 Bulawayo ODI and 324/8 also against India in the 2007 Nagpur ODI but lost on both the occasions.


642 – The 642 runs scored in this game are the 3rd most in a Tied ODI game. The 2008 Napier ODI between New Zealand and England aggregated 680 runs while the India-England 2011 CWC game recorded a total of 676 runs.
