India named a full-strength squad for the final three ODI matches of the ongoing series and also included their main pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. The duo might as well start in the 3rd ODI replacing Mohammed Shami and one among Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja based on the conditions. This could be yet another high-scoring game as this ground in Pune has short boundaries like Guwahati and Vizag.

Everyone expected India to even rest their captain Virat Kohli for the last three ODIs. But a tie in the second match might have forced the selectors to make these changes ahead of the Australia series as they want to ensure a series win. Windies, on the other hand, might be tempted to replace Fabian Allen with Marlon Samuels as the senior batsman failed with the bat in both the games. Allen offers a left-arm spin bowling option as well which could be more effective in comparison with Samuels’ off-spin.

Match Details:

The second ODI match between India and Windies will be hosted by the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

The match starts at 1:30 PM local time (IST).

Last five ODI matches:

India: T, W, W, T, W.

Windies: T, L, L, W, L.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The MCA Stadium in Pune is expected to produce a high-scoring game on Saturday. In the three ODIs played at this venue thus far, the 300-run mark has been breached three times including a successful 350+ chase by the hosts. However, in the most recent game, the Kiwis were restricted to 230 as they failed to cope up against the Indian bowling.

Squads:

India: Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Khaleel Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav.

Windies: Jason Holder (C), Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope (wk), Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Fabian Allen, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Oshane Thomas, Obed McCoy, Kieran Powell.

Probable XI:

India: Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (WK), Ravindra Jadeja/Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.

Windies: Jason Holder (C), Chandrapaul Hemraj, Kieran Powell, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Marlon Samuels/Fabian Allen, Rovman Powell, Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Roach, Obed McCoy.

Power Picks:

India’s bowling attack of Bhuvneshwar, Bumrah, Chahal and Kuldeep has the potential to disintegrate the Windies batting in a matter of overs. However, the problem is who among these four to be featured in the XI. Taking all of them won’t be a bad idea either. Windies opener Chandrapaul Hemraj will make a good pick given the low price tag he carries.

Best Playing XI:

Shai Hope, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Rovman Powell, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Picking Virat Kohli with a multiplier option is a no-brainer given the Indian skipper’s lowest ODI score in 2018 is 36. He has a good record at this venue scoring 212 runs in three ODI matches including a century and a fifty. The likes of Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah will be hoping to make it count on their comeback and as always are expected to take at least a couple of wickets each.

Expert Advice:

Shikhar Dhawan has a tendency to produce recognizable performances with a pattern in every series. He either throws away his wicket almost every time or scores big in almost every game of a given series/tournament. The left-hander has scored 4 and 29 in the first two matches. Windies’ new opener Chandrapaul Hemraj showed a glimpse of his ability in the last game and could be a handy player to have in your team for this match.

Probable Winners:

India are expected to tame the Windies’ batting with the return of their premier fast-bowling pair.
