After a rather one-sided affair at the Eden Gardens, the action moved to Lucknow for the second T20I of the ongoing Windies tour of India. The hosts had the upper hand in the first game and the spirited visitors faltered in their preferred format of the game. They arrived in Lucknow with a hope to revive their fortunes and get the equaliser on board.

The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium made its international debut with this fixture. Much against the expectations of the Windies camp, this game also turned out to be a one-sided contest with the Indian team calling the shots in the match. While the first T20I was a low scoring affair, the second one saw team India put on a massive total riding on a record breaking ton by skipper Rohit Sharma.

Rohit’s fourth T20I ton set up the base for India’s 195/2 on board in the stipulated 20 overs. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan played handy knocks to bat around Rohit. In the run chase, Windies could never really get in the hunt. The wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. In big chase, the teams usually need an anchor. And Windies just could not get one in the match. They could only manage 124/9 in their 20 overs and thereby losing by 71 runs.

Here are the India Player Ratings for the match:

Shikhar Dhawan – 6/10

After a string of low scores, Shikhar Dhawan finally found some quality time at the crease. The veteran opener stuck it out in the middle, overcame his nemesis Oshane Thomas with the new cherry, and ended up scoring 43 off 41 balls. He would have certainly liked to have those runs at a faster pace. Dhawan added 123 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma – 9.5/10

Rohit Sharma has been in a tremendous form in the recent weeks. He had a rare failure in the previous match but he certainly got back to his best in this game. He scored his 4th T20I hundred – the most by any other cricketer. His belligerent unbeaten 111 came off just 61 deliveries with 8 fours and 7 sixes to his name. The Indian batting lineup batted around Rohit as he did the bulk of the scoring on the day. And again, he looked perfect with his decision making as the leader on the field.

Rishabh Pant – 1/10

With a base of 123 set by the openers, the time was right for someone to step in and go all guns blazing. Rishabh Pant, who is renowned to do the same, was promoted to number three. After a good boundary early in the innings, Pant ended up throwing his wicket with a wild hoick giving a rather easy catch to the deep mid-wicket fielder. It was yet another disappointing outing for him.

KL Rahul – 6/10

Among the other batsmen who have had a rough run of luck in the recent games was KL Rahul. In this match, Rahul looked a tad better and showed glimpses of what he is capable of doing. Rahul helped Rohit get the final flourish in the game with his quick unbeaten 26 that came of just 14 deliveries.

Manish Pandey – Not Assigned

Manish Pandey did not get a chance to bat in this game as the Indian top order looked too hot to handle for the Windies bowlers on the day.

Dinesh Karthik – Not Assigned

Much like Manish Pandey, one of the architects of the previous win in Kolkata, Dinesh Karthik, did not get a chance to bat in the match. With the gloves, he looked decent behind the stumps and had a good outing.

Krunal Pandya – 5/10

After an impressive T20I debut, Krunal Pandya retained his place in the side. He did not get an opportunity to bat in the match. With the ball, he was taken away for 21 runs in the first three overs that he bowled. He managed to pull things back for himself as he conceded just 2 in his final over to finish with 0/23 in his quota of 4 overs. He also inflicted a run out in the game.

Kuldeep Yadav – 8/10

Kuldeep Yadav continued to trouble the Windies batter in the series. He bowled a magnificent spell conceding just 13 runs in 3 overs and getting the wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Darren Bravo. However, his figures were brutally spoilt in his final over by Carlos Brathwaite and Keemo Paul, who took a toll of 19 runs in the over. Kuldeep finished with 2/32 in his quota of 4 overs.

Khaleel Ahmed – 7/10

Khaleel Ahmed had a decent time in the match today. He bowled his complete quota of four overs and gave away 30 runs. However, he did manage to provide a couple of breakthroughs early in the innings. He accounted for the dismissals of both the openers – Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer.

Jasprit Bumrah – 9/10

Jasprit Bumrah continued to have an impressive run of form in the shortest format of the game. He went about his usual business bowling yorkers and slower ones to perfection. In the four overs that he bowled, he returned with figures of 2/20. He took the big wicket of Kieron Pollard in the middle overs to push the visitors on the backfoot in the run chase.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 9.5/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar came real good for team India in the match. He was a class act on the day and the Windies batters looked hapless against his lengths. Bhuvi finished as the pick of the bowlers for the hosts with 2/12 in his 4 overs. Early in the game, he dismissed Denesh Ramdin. Later, in his final over, he took the wicket of Keemo Paul.
