The first T20I at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata turned out to be a one-sided affair as India defeated the Windies by five wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Though the Caribbean bowlers tried their hearts out, their batters looked all at sea as the visiting team were shot out for a paltry score, which Rohit Sharma and Co tracked down with over two overs to spare.

The Men in Blue, on the contrary, did strain with the bat a wee bit but would be satisfied with how the bowlers put their best foot forward. The second match is scheduled to be played tomorrow at Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While the encounter is a must-win for Carlos Brathwaite’s men, the home team would be keen to seal the fate of the series.

Pitch

The venue is set to host its maiden international match and therefore nothing much is known about the nature of the strip. Hence, the team winning the toss would want to field first to gauge the tricks of the pitch while the other team bats. Also, bearing in mind the dew factor that is likely to come into play, batting second seems to be the safest option for the time being.

Rohit and Dhawan are the openers with Rahul and the swashbuckling Pant to follow. Pandey faltered last time around and would want to make amends. Kuldeep is the lone specialist spinner with Krunal as his support. Bumrah and Khaleel are the seamers with Bhuvneshwar.
