Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra will be back with the mic in his hand as India will take on Windies for a two-match Test series, followed by 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is. He once again impressed everyone with his Hindi commentary spells in the Asia Cup and will be eager to pull off a few more brilliant one-liners.

He made some interesting predictions on the Indian playing XI for the first Test against Windies, which will start from 4th of October. He has hoped that both the new recruits, Mayank Agarwal from Karnataka and Mohammed Siraj from Hyderabad, will get a chance to don the white jersey.

Most interestingly, he reckons that India will go with two debutants as openers for the Rajkot game. Prithvi Shaw was called up to England to warm the bench for a couple of games, but with Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay out of the side, he might be opening the batting alongside Mayank Agarwal, according to the 40-year-old analyst.

“A well-deserved call-up for Mayank Agarwal and Siraj. Hopefully, both will get some game time. Prithvi must play too. It’s going to be an interesting selection for the playing XI,” Aakash Chopra said.

Here’s what he tweeted

A stern test for the youngsters

Windies have not been one of the strongest competitors to India in the longest format recently. It will take a lot of hard work for them to even draw the series and the hosts enter the series as the firm favorites to win both the games in Rajkot and Hyderabad.

But the series will not be easy for a few young cricketers like Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, and Mohammed Siraj. These three cricketers might be making their debut in this series and all their persistent hard work will have paid off. But for them to stick here for a long time, consistent performances is the only way.

Mayank Agarwal has had a great domestic season, but he failed to make his mark in the IPL. This series will be very crucial for him as he got rewarded with an opportunity after a very long shower of big scores in the domestic circuit. A good performance here can boost his chances of turning a full-time opener for the national side.
