India vs Windies: BCCI describes Virat Kohli in one word

After winning the toss in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam, skipper Virat Kohli was clear in his mind that they’ll bat first expecting the pitch to remain on the slower side. He and his management got their pitch assessments slightly wrong, but the 29-year-old barely put a foot wrong with the bat in hand.

Apart from a miscued lofted off-drive off which he was dropped by opposite number Jason Holder, the 2018 Khel Ratna recipient was displaying a batting masterclass alongside Ambati Rayudu. Just before getting to his 37th century, Kohli completed 10,000 runs in ODI cricket, a landmark previously achieved only by four Indians and 12 cricketers overall.

He ended up notching 157 runs off 129 balls, which includes 13 fours and four sixes. The entire cricketing world took a pause to appreciate the genius he is and there were compliments coming from all across the globe. From the legendary names like Sachin Tendulkar and Wasim Akram to young sensations Kuldeep and Karun Nair, everyone took to Twitter to congratulate the great man.

The BCCI too came up with a unique tweet to salute this batting genius. They used just one word alongside today’s date, suggesting who the king of the jungle is. They used the word “GOAT”, which is the abbreviation for Greatest of all time.

Kohli’s effort goes in vain as 2nd ODI ends in a stalemate

In a dramatic, hardly-fought contest at Vishakapatnam, there was nothing separating either sides and one might have to consent with a fact that a draw was a fair result. Chasing an above par total of 322, the Windies batsmen rarely showed any signs of nerves and managed to hand a serious drubbing to a few of the Indian bowlers.

As the game entered the last 20 overs, the visitors looked in the driver’s seat with Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope romping their way to a win. But a late resurgence from the Indian bowlers helped them to keep things under control. With five runs to get off the final ball, Hope hit a boundary over backward point and the game eventually saw no winner.
