India fought the odds with the rain on the final day of the Melbourne Test and wrapped things up to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series. It was an exceptional performance from the visitors given that Australia had thumped them in Perth. But India bossed every moment of the third Test and to bat after winning the toss was a brave decision. Amongst all the praises, Mitchell Johnson also came up with some special words for them saying admitting that India were the better team on all days.

Johnson has been in the news ever since the series has begun. He has been bashed on social media for his comments but the former left-arm pacer also had good words to speak about the tourists and felt that they deserve to be ahead in the contest.

He took to his official Twitter handle to acknowledge the same and also added that Australia will have to fight hard to level the series in Sydney. “India just to good in all departments this Test, well done 2-1 to India means Australia will need to fight in Syd to stop India winning the series. Enjoy your New Years,” he tweeted.

Bumrah and Cummins – The heroes

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Man of the Match for his superb bowling performance in the first innings which floored the hosts. His career-best figures of 6/33 helped India skittle Australia for just 151 and gain the match-winning lead of 292 runs after which the result of the game was only a mere formality.

Pat Cummins was the go-to man for the Aussies as he went on to score 80 runs with the willow and accounted for nine scalps in the match. In both the innings, he sent back India’s top and middle-order to keep his team in the game. Unfortunately, his efforts weren’t enough for Australia to make a comeback.
