He formed a solid partnership alongside Mohammed Shami, which kept another primetime option in Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the XI in World Cup 2015 played Down Under.

The speedster, however, failed to live up to the expectations after the tournament and suffered the same fate as Raina and Rahane. This time around, he had a much better opportunity in hand, which went out of hand by the skin of his teeth. The Hyderabadi cricketer only has himself to blame. He got the longest rope among all contenders for the number 4 slot and even played against Australia a few weeks back, which was India&#8217;s last International assignment before the World Cup.
Despite having great support from the captain and management, his poor form and lack of consistency was the only reason Vijay Shankar managed to edge past him in the final team.
