The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn’t lose to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They succumbed to a certain Rashid Khan who was at his best on the day and did all that he could’ve done to end the campaign of the Dinesh Karthik and his Men and 64 thousand people present at the Eden Gardens. While the current and former cricketers were all praise of the leggie from Afghanistan, even the B-Town celebrities were in awe of him after his scintillating show in the must-win contest.

The Sunrisers were down and out when Rashid came out with less than three overs left. The score was 134/6 and nobody expected such an assault. He blunted the leather in the next couple of overs and added 40 runs to his team’s total. Suddenly the momentum was with the Orange Army. The bowlers in the firing line were the youngsters Shivam Mavi and Prasidh Krishna who had done exceptionally well before. But Rashid kept on shuffling in the crease and disturbed their lines which worked in favour of his team in the end.

Magician with the ball

Rashid Khan was determined to win it for SRH as he never gave an inch to the batsmen and in the process went on to pick the wickets of Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell. The wicket of Russell was special though who was set up nicely by the bowler by placing the field close to him. Moreover, the wily legspinner showed his acrobatics on the field as well by running out Nitish Rana with a perfect throw which started the slide for the KKR.

He was cool as a cucumber in the final over while pouching two catches at deep mid-wicket which eventually sealed their place in the finals. No wonder everyone was mesmerized with his performance and the Twitter was flooded with congratulatory messages for him. Even the Indian celebrities were left wondering if they could’ve seen a better performance from any other player in a single T20 game. Undoubtedly, Rashid was awarded the Man of the Match as the SRH set the finals date with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday.

Here’s how the B-Town reacted:
