The superstars of Indian cricket have suggested their fans to celebrate a cracker free Diwali this year and keep their surrounding pollution free. A few days ago, the Supreme Court decided to ban the sale of firecrackers in Delhi, the national capital, which drew a lot of ire from the celebrities and the common people. However, the skipper Virat Kohli and his teammates have now batted for the same and urged people to not burn crackers during the festival of lights.
Earlier, the ousted Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was blasted over his double standards on social media when he first supported the decision of Supreme Court and then was the one to allow the use of firecrackers during his wedding. Also the former cricketer Aakash Chopra was happy with the ban and was trolled for the same by the people. Now it will be interesting to see the response from the fans when their favourite superstars have advised them.
Cricketers wish their fans a happy and safe Diwali
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli took to social media and wished his fans while urging them to spread lights and not noise. His tweet read, “This Diwali, let’s change things up. #HappyDiwali #FestivalOfLights #StayWrogn.” His teammates Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan were also not behind and tweeted their wishes along with a special message. Though it remains to be seen if the appeal from their idols can stop the people from burning crackers.
Men in Blue are currently busy in celebrating the festival of lights but are soon expected to join the squad in Mumbai. The first of the 3-match ODI series is all set to be played at the historic Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Both the teams will then stay in Maharashtra as the second match will be Pune which is just a couple of journey from Mumbai. The ODI series will be concluded at Green Park in Kanpur on October 29.
