The Indians and the Sri Lankans might be fighting it out in a full fledged series at the island nation, but the cricketers of both the teams share a healthy relationship marked by mutual love and respect. We got another example of the same when the Indian cricketers partied together with their Sri Lankan counterparts in Lasith Malinga’s birthday bash.

Details:

Legendary Sri Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga who turned 34 on 28th August 2017 organized a birthday party amidst the ongoing series in which cricketers from both the teams were invited. Indian opener Rohit Sharma who slammed back to back centuries in the 3rd and the 4th ODIs, took to his official Twitter account to share a picture from the moment.

In the picture, we can see Rohit Sharma and his wife posing with birthday boy Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella, Danushka Gunathilaka, Shardul Thakur, Lokesh Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan. Former Sri Lankan heavyweights such as Mahela Jayawardene and Sanath Jayasuriya can be spotted in the background.

Indian left handed opener Shikhar Dhawan, who has been in surreal form in the tour also posted a selfie from the day. He posed for the shutterbugs alongside former and present Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal. The left handed genius shared the photo on Twitter expressing his happiness on meeting the two gentlemen off the field.

Lasith Malinga and Rohit Sharma share a beautiful bond are very good friends on and off the field. The two cricketers have spent a significant amount of time playing for Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians. Malinga claimed his 300th one Day International wicket in the 4th ODI against India. Incidentally, Rohit was at the crease that time and the batsman hugged the Sri Lankan bowler on achieving the remarkable feat. It was a great gesture from the Mumbai Indians skipper and such sportsman spirit makes the game a gentleman’s one.

Great night with great friends ?
