Team India thrashed a struggling Sri Lankan side by a massive 168 runs in the 4th ODI of a five match series at the Premadasa. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma slammed trailblazing centuries to ride India to a mammoth total of 375 runs. While Kohli’s knock was more of a stormy one, Sharma’s knock was defined by character and composure. Virat Kohli ended his inning with a score of 131 runs of 96 deliveries while Rohit Sharma fell victim at 104.

The main story:

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar was highly impressed by both the batsmen and took to Twitter to write a line about the win. The Master Blaster in his tweet hailed the performances of Kohli and Rohit and lauded their dominant approach. He also pointed out the fact that the Indian team is getting better with each game. Sachin’s tweet read What a dominating performance by @imVkohli & @ImRo45! Reaching greater heights with each passing game.

Rohit Sharma was delighted to be praised by arguably the greatest batsman to have ever played the game of cricket. The Mumbai Indians captain was quick to chip in with a reply to the little master’s tweet. Rohit Sharma thanked Sachin Tendulkar in his reply and also expressed his feelings. The tweet was flattering for the batsman and he mentioned that it means a lot when it comes from an icon like Sachin Tendulkar.

Sharma’s reply read “Thanks paaji means a great deal.”

Manish Pandey (50) and MS Dhoni (49) chipped in with effective contributions towards the end which helped the men in blue put up the staggering total. Coming onto chase the target the Sri Lankans were never quite into the game. They were completely outclassed by the visitors as the lions were restricted to a total of 207 runs. The Man of the Match award was handed over to Virat Kohli for his ruthless knock which paved the way for a gigantic win.
