Indian batters played well in the practice game
Team India is currently playing a four-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), their only game ahead of the Test series. After the first day was washed out in rain, India were asked to bat by the opponent captain who won the toss. The visiting side’s top order clicked as five of their top six batsmen hit a fifty and Rohit Sharma also scored 40 at No.7. Teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw, who hit a debut hundred against the Windies at home last month, top scored with 66 while captain Virat Kohli hit 64. The CA XI was 24 for no loss at stumps.
Expectations are high from experts and fans from India registering their maiden series victory in Australia in Tests. India have been touring the country since 1947-48 but have managed to draw the series on three occasions. The last time they drew Australia in their den was in 2003-04 while the last time they won a Test there was in 2007-08. In the last two series, India lost six of eight Tests played while two were drawn. Australia do not have two of their premier players – Steve Smith and David Warner in this series and it has made the Indian fans hopeful of a series win.
