Indian pacer Mohammad Shami set to miss the UAE match due to a knee injury: The Indian cricket team is on a roll here in Australia, they have excelled in the opening hurdles which were placed ahead of them in form of Pakistan and South Africa. Both of whom could not prove to be testing enough for MS Dhoni and his men. In fact the opponents could never put this Indian team under pressure.

Carrying on such high momentum, the expectations rise; it is good for the team that they have a week’s gap between games which allows them to disperse, relax and regroup again in time, have 3 or 4 tough training sessions and they are all set for the game.

Mohammad Shami has been a really different bowler as soon as we came into the world cup; in the tests and the tri-series he bowled too short on occasions and eased the pressure on the batsmen. Now what we see is a more disciplined line and length, the shorter stuff is used sparingly and with great effect.

He shot Younis Khan a well directed bouncer in the first match and the man who Pakistan depended on most was making his way back to the pavilion. Against South Africa Hashim Amla was the stone they needed to push aside early on and the bouncer paid up there as well.

So when the Indian bowling line-up started to look settled and in control of the proceedings here is a shaker, Mohammad Shami has sustained a knee injury which will keep him out of the match against the United Arab Emirates tomorrow.

The Indian team manager RN Baba a day before the game informed the present reporters that, “Mohammed Shami got a mild left-knee problem and had ultrasound-guided injection yesterday, “For his long-term management perspective he won’t be available for tomorrow’s match against UAE.”

While this could upset the bowling attack a bit, it has also opened up an opportunity for the management to try their cards against a weaker UAE and test if anybody from Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Stuart Binny could well make up for him and fill in.

The WACA wicket one of the paciest and with lot of bounce in it; is expected to assist the pace bowlers and India could well consider going in with four seamers and Ravichandran Ashwin. In that case they will have Umesh, Mohit, Bhuvneshwar and Binny all playing.
