Team news –
Kolkata
As per recent news, the team management asked skipper Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa to get some time off before the match against Rajasthan. So instead of flying to Kolkata with the team from Hyderabad, the two batsmen went to Mumbai to practice at the KKR academy and joined the team on the eve of the game. Bowling is the team’s biggest weakness, so Karthik could be looking to experiment a bit. Kuldeep Yadav, who was dropped from the previous game, is likely to return.
Likely playing XI – Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (C & wk), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Yarra Prithviraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Matt Kelly.
Rajasthan
There is no update on the visiting team.
Likely playing XI – Sanju Samson (wk), Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith (C), Ben Stokes, Riyan Parag, Ashton Turner, Stuart Binny, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni.
Top picks
Sunil Narine – A video from Kolkata’s latest net session has been doing rounds on social media, in which pinch hitter Sunil Narine is seeing sending every ball to the boundary. Narine is not made for a long innings, but in his short stay, the batsman can do enough damage.
Yarra Prithviraj – Kolkata’s biggest weakness this season has been their bowling. Andhra Pradesh bowler Yarra Prithviraj was given his debut last match, in which he picked up David Warner’s wicket, while also being the most economical bowler for his side. The bowler can be picked at a cheap rate, but can get you a lot of points.
Andre Russell – Biggest entertainer of this season, and Kolkata’s lone warrior, Russell is an obvious entry in your Fantain Fantasy XI. A lot will depend on the all-rounder if Kolkata want to qualify for the playoffs.
Ajinkya Rahane – The former Royals’ skipper roared back to form with a fine century in the last game in which he was relieved of his captaincy duties. Rahane looks in good form and can construct another impressive inning.
Jofra Archer – The pacer will play a crucial role on the Kolkata surface and might be Rajasthan’s best bet to remove Andre Russell.
