There was a time when Bangalore never looked like winning a single game but have now won three in a row. That is the nature of T20 cricket, fortunes swing like a pendulum. With this winning streak, Bangalore have still somehow kept them afloat for a spot in the qualifiers. They will now go to Delhi to face the Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday and will hope to keep the winning streak intact. Having beaten Bangalore away from home earlier this season, Delhi have faced only a solitary defeat in their previous 5 games. Another win will seal their spot in the playoffs with two league games to spare.

Bangalore will seek to find the right balance to their XI since Moeen Ali will not be around anymore and with Dale Steyn cutting short his IPL campaign, Kohli’s men need to quickly find replacements. They will be tempted to give Hetymer another go but Colin de Grandhomme can give them an option with the ball. Delhi, on the other hand, have a settled line-up and it will be wise to pick the likes of Dhawan and Pant in your fantasy teams given their sublime form this year.

Speaking of good form, Bangalore’s Kohli, de Villiers and Chahal have also performed consistently this year but it might be very difficult to accommodate all of the above in one team unless you punt on guys like Ishant Sharma or Washington Sundar who are efficient picks. As far as the favourites tag goes, Delhi look likely to tame Bangalore and end their outside chance of qualification.

Likely XIs

Delhi: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Colin Ingram, Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma

Bangalore: Parthiv Patel (WK), Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen, Akshdeep Nath, Marcus Stoinis, Washington Sundar, Tim Southee, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal

Dotball Prediction:

Dotball team for Head to Head/Small Contests:

Wicket-keeper – Parthiv Patel

Batsmen – AB de Villiers (VC), Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw

All-Rounders – Pawan Negi, Axar Patel

Bowlers – Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada (C), Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Kagiso Rabada is easily the best bowler in the tournament and holds the purple cap for taking 23 wickets in 11 games. The South African bowler bowls equally well at the start and at the death. No bowler has executed the yorker better than him and his battle with Kohli will keep everyone at the edge of the seat.

Vice-Captain: AB de Villiers has hit a purple patch which has immensely contributed to Bangalore’s winning streak. His average is almost touching 60 while his strike rate stands at 158.01. Bangalore will yet again expect another blistering knock from the former Protea skipper.

Fantasy Tips

In Moeen Ali’s absence, Marcus Stoinis will look to step up and continue his good form. In 8 games, Stoinis have an average of 59.66 with the bat and has delivered crucial overs with the ball for Kohli.

Safe Captain Choices:

Virat Kohli

AB de Villiers

Shikhar Dhawan

Risky Captain Choices:

Rishabh Pant

Shikhar Dhawan

Kagiso Rabada

Dotball team for Grand/Mega Contests:

Wicket-keeper – Rishabh Pant (VC)

Batsmen – Virat Kohli, Akshdeep Nath, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw

All-Rounders – Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar

Bowlers – Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal (C), Ishant Sharma

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Chahal’s control has been impeccable this season. In 11 games, the legspinner has scalped 14 wickets while conceding runs at 7.82. He will play a key role and can be a dangerous bowler against a fairly inconsistent Delhi middle-order.

Vice-Captain: Pant conceded that his World Cup non-selection was playing in his mind which fuelled him to play a match-winning inning of 78* in the previous game. He would be eyeing to take on Chahal, who has bowled exceptionally well this year, in the middle overs.

Fantasy Tips

Ishant’s form has been brilliant so far this year but the Delhi pacer will be up against his teammate Kohli. The lanky bowler, however, would know a thing or two about Kohli’s weakness as both have played a lot together. Ingram has produced crucial cameos and will be keen to make a bigger contribution.

Fantasy Tips

After a slow start to the year, Dhawan has struck the ball cleanly and averages 40.1 after scoring 401 runs in 11 games. With Steyn missing in action, Dhawan will look to attack the inexperienced pace bowling attack and could provide another flying start to Delhi.

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Grand/ Mega Leagues:

Wicket-keeper – Rishabh Pant (VC)

Batsmen – AB de Villiers (C), Virat Kohli, Colin Ingram, Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw

All-Rounders – Marcus Stoinis, Chris Morris

Bowlers – Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ishant Sharma

Fantasy Tips

Morris might have leaked runs but has 12 wickets from 8 games under his belt. The tall fast bowler does the job at the death. Shaw hasn’t looked comfortable but will find the going easy against Bangalore’s pace attack.
