Let us take a look at the analysis of both teams before picking the Fantain XI for the 5th game of the Indian T20 league.
Venue – Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi
Team news –
Delhi will be very high on confidence after getting the better of the defending champions in their own backyard on Sunday. There is still no update on when Chris Morris will join the squad, but the series against Sri Lanka is over and Morris might be available soon.
Likely playing XI – Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer (c), Colin Ingram, Rishabh Pant (wk), Keemo Paul, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma.
The dry pitch at the Kotla will assist the spinners. Chennai won their last game with a spin assault, and will likely go with the same playing XI at the Kotla. There is no update on Faf du Plessis’ injury recovery yet.
Likely playing XI – Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir
The opening game saw the South African veteran register fantastic figures of 3 wickets for just nine runs in his allotted four overs. His variations had the Bangalore batsmen either leaving the ball or getting dismissed. He is a must for your Fantain XI.
Another spinner who made the best of the Chennai pitch was Jadeja, who was in good form in international cricket before coming into the IPL. He will be looking to do more damage on the spin-friendly Kotla pitch.
The biggest talking point of the tournament yet has been Pant’s knock against Mumbai. Walking in to bat at 112 for 3 in the 13th over, the youngster fired on all cylinders from the word go, unleashing sever fours and as many sixes into the Wankhede stands. He scored 78 off just 27 balls, becoming the boy of the moment on social media and across fantasy cricket platforms. Pant should be a regular on your Fantain XI.
Shikhar Dhawan – Dhawan being a good player of spin will come in handy for Delhi in the game. He was traded from Hyderabad this year, and is expected to be Delhi’s lucky charm this season.
Harbhajan Singh – The veteran spin bowler, after his man of the match performance against RCB, will be looking to carry his form to the Kotla. Having dismissed Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the first match, Harbhajan will be looking to demolish the left-handed Pant who likes to go for big shots.
