<p>Virat Kohli and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rohit-sharma-hits-kagiso-rabada-park/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Rohit Sharma</strong></a> together have plundered so many bowling attacks. It is a treat for the spectators when they bat together and literally annihilate the opposition more often than not. Undoubtedly, they are two of the best limited-overs batsmen currently in the world cricket. While batting together they&#8217;ve scored 3518 runs together in 62 innings at an average of 60.66 with 13 century and nine fifty-plus stands, the highest being 230.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, there is always some communication problem between the two as they run each other out. Moreover, the Indian skipper is on the receiving end most of the times and he leaves the field fuming over his partner. While Kohli has run Rohit out twice in what has now become a norm when they bat together. The total of both running out of each other has shot up to seven times now including the one in the ongoing fifth One-Day International against South Africa.</p>
<p>Also, the one at the other end also manages to compensate hilariously everytime they commit such crime.</p>
<h3>Here are the instances when Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ran each other out:</h3>
<h3>1. Virat Kohli (vs Windies, 2011)</h3>

<p>This is was the last of the five-match ODI series against West Indies in Kingston when the duo came together with India being reduced to 79/3 after 16 over. While Virat was well set by then, Rohit arrived who was then batting in the middle order for the team. Both of them first resurrected the innings and then played some shots eventually adding 110 runs in next 20 overs.</p>
<p>While everything was going smoothly and Kohli was set for a brilliant ton batting on 94, the panic mode set in. He flicked the ball to deep square-leg and decided to take a couple taking on the fielder <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ramnaresh-sarwan-wins-case-against-wicb-over-comments-made-on-fitness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Ramnaresh Sarwan</strong></a> who was quick to get rid of the ball. He threw the ball accurately into the hands of the wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh who kept his calm and disturbed the stumps Kohli fell short of the crease and was frustratingly missed out on a well-deserved century.</p>
<p>Rohit, however, went on score 57 runs in that innings as India could only post 251 runs and were bundled out in the 48th over.</p>

<p>Australia had toured India for a seven-match ODI series and it was the decider with the series locked at 3-3. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/interruptions-and-chances-to-miller-cost-us-the-game-says-shikhar-dhawan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Shikhar Dhawan</strong></a> was dismissed after the opening stand added 112 runs in 19 overs. Virat Kohli arrived and set off for a single after tapping the ball to mid-off. Rohit, at the other end, kept on watching the ball and didn&#8217;t leave his crease. By the time he had yelled &#8216;no&#8217; to his partner, Kohli had almost reached the other end. It was a rather easy run-out with Kohli being dismissed for a three-ball duck.</p>
<p>What followed after that was an absolute carnage. Rohit Sharma just made light work of Australian bowlers and slammed the maiden double hundred of his ODI career. He smashed the ball around the park nonchalantly and went on to plunder 209 runs off just 158 deliveries. Amazingly, he had hit 12 fours and a whopping 16 maximums at Chinnaswamy Stadium. India went on to score 383 runs in 50 overs and he was only dismissed in the last over.</p>
<h3>3. Virat Kohli (vs Sri Lanka, 2014)</h3>

<p>Virat Kohli was at the receiving end for the third time as the Hitman ran him out once again in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens. It was the comeback match for Rohit after a long injury lay-off. Both of them had come together with the team&#8217;s score at 59/2 and were looking comfortable. Kohli was playing rather comfortably on 66 with the partnership crossing 200 runs.</p>
<p>Kohli slogged the fifth ball of the 39th over to the deep and the fielder Seekuge Prasanna did well to stop the ball despite not being able to catch it. He collected the ball and threw it towards the keeper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/dinesh-chandimal-registers-unique-feat-ton-delhi-test/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Dinesh Chandimal</strong></a> and Kohli was short of his crease as he had hesitated for the second run. Eventually, he had to sacrifice his wicket for his partner who was looking good at the other end.</p>
<p>As it turned out, it was the historic game for Rohit. He went to break the record of the highest individual score by smashing 264 runs off 173 balls only and his knock was studded with 33 fours and nine gigantic maximums. India posted a mammoth total of 404 runs in their fifty overs and also won the game by a huge margin of 153 runs.</p>
<h3>4. Virat Kohli (vs Australia, 2016)</h3>

<p>Brisbane was the venue this time when the famous miscommunication between these two Indian batsmen came to the fore yet again. Unfortunately, Kohli was the man to go back to the dressing room. India had lost the first ODI and opted to bat first at the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/barmy-army-disappointed-on-being-scattered-around-at-the-gabba/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Gabba</strong></a> in order to level the series. But they lost the wicket of Dhawan early in the third over.</p>
<p>Kohli and Sharma once again bailed the team out of the trouble and notched up a 100-run partnership. Both had added 125 runs when Kohli tucked the ball to fine leg and set off for a double. The fielder, Kane Richardson, however, quickly gathered the ball and threw it to the wicket-keeper who disturbed the timber. Kohli even dived to get into the crease but all in vain. Once again, Rohit stood firm and slammed a heroic ton eventually being run-out as well on a well-made 124.</p>
<h3>5. Rohit Sharma (vs Pakistan, 2017)</h3>

<p>So finally the time arrived when Rohit had to bear the brunt of getting dismissed due to the hilarious confusion between these two. It was the first match of the Men in Blue in the ICC Champions Trophy against Pakistan. Both had come together in the 25th over after Rohit and Dhawan had provided the team with a great start. The partnership had reached 56 runs in no time and Rohit was close to a century batting on 91.</p>
<p>The skipper Kohli tapped the ball from Shadab Khan towards point and took off for a single. Rohit soon obliged and went for the run. He put in a dive to make sure he reached the crease but unfortunately his bat was lifted in the air when <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/honoured-lead-pakistan-formats-sarfraz-ahmed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Sarfraz Ahmed</strong></a> broke the stumps. He agonisingly fell short of his century by 9 runs. However, Kohli made sure he remained unbeaten until the end and went on to score 81 off just 68 deliveries as India posted 319 runs.</p>
<h3>6. Rohit Sharma (vs Australia, 2017)</h3>

<p>The series was already in the bag for India and the fourth match was being played at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Australia posted 334 runs in 50 overs on the back of a terrific century from David Warner. Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma started off well in the chase and added 106 runs for the opening wicket. Then the skipper Virat Kohli arrived in the middle and joined hands with the vice-captain Rohit.</p>
<p>In the 23rd over of the match, Kohli clipped the ball to backward point and went for the single. Aussie captain <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/steve-smith-test-player-the-year-at-the-annual-allan-border-medal-awards/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Steve Smith</strong></a> dived to his left and stopped the ball. He threw the ball quickly even as both the batsmen were horribly left stranded at the same end. Rohit was the man who had to go this time as well on 65 as it was the key wicket in the context of the match. Even the captain failed to make up for the mistake and could only score 21 runs as the home side lost the game by the same margin.</p>
