Pakistan’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad which was announced earlier received a lot of flak and all the teams have time till October 10 to make changes to their setup. In the latest turn of events, they made three changes to their squad and called up Sarfaraz Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman, and Haider Ali to their squad. Even Shoaib Malik was added as a replacement for injured Sohaib Maqsood.

In the same light of events, former Pakistan cricketer and chief selector questioned the selection of Sarfaraz Ahmed in the team. He added that the selection committee should have the ability to handle the pressure created by media outside and not make selections based on their noise. He added that why is the team playing Ahmed when he has not played enough T20Is in the last two years to be equipped to play for T20 WC.

“If the selection committee wants to make selections based on performance, then they need to forget age and other factors. When you are not going to play Sarfaraz then why are we carrying him? How many T20Is has he played in the last two years? He is a reputable former captain – including him, and not playing him will make no sense,” said Inzamam ul Haq on his YouTube channel.

Inzamam-ul-Haq makes his opinion on the selection of Sharjeel Khan in the revised squad

Haq stated that Pakistan has suffered most in the middle-order and hence, they should have selected Sharjeel Khan as an opener. Pakistan are set to leave for Dubai for their T20 World Cup show on October 15. They will be playing their opening game against Indian on October 24 in Dubai.

“Sharjeel Khan has performed brilliantly. If they didn’t want to shuffle the batting order then why was Shoaib Malik not considered? He has the experience. Both players could have made a huge difference,” added Haq.

A lot of noise is around the India-Pakistan clash at T20 WC as the arch-rivals only see each other in the ICC events now. It will be after the 2019 ODI WC that they will be locking horns against each other.
