IPL 10: Axar Patel eyeing national comeback with spirited show

Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Axar Patel played the innings that ended up being the difference between KXIP and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match 43 of IPL 10. The Bengaluru track managed to deceive everyone yet again and played on a sluggish note. All batsmen failed to get their feet going at the track that offered no timing for the batsmen at all.

In this situation, the 23-year old Axar Patel played a handy knock towards the end to help KXIP post 138 runs on the board. The total did not look enough at the halfway stage but eventually proved to be a match-winning total. Patel carved a brilliant unbeaten 38 off just 17 balls to provide the impetus to the KXIP innings. He has had a decent season thus far in the tournament.

Patel, who rose to prominence after the 2014 edition of the IPL, was even drafted to the national side. Now, he aims to regain his spot in the Indian team with spirited shows this season. He has been successful with both bat and the ball thus far in the tournament. He hopes to continue in the same way and take the same confidence forward in the remaining fixtures as well.

“This has been my best IPL so far. Barring a few matches, I have batted well. I am bowling well too, except maybe one or two games. This has been my best season. There are still a lot of matches to play and I want to take the confidence forward,” quoted Axar Patel as per the quotes in the Times of India.

Patel somehow failed to consolidate his claim in the national side though. The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav raced ahead of him in the race to the Indian team.

“The first time I played for India, I got a chance after performing well in the IPL. IPL has now become a good platform for youngsters to flourish. I am trying hard to enhance my chances of a comeback by performing well and pushing the limits. I want to continue my form,” Patel conceded further.
