The stage was set for the all-important Eliminator of the IPL 10. The Sunrisers Hyderabad took on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bengaluru. Eliminator always promises to be an exciting affair considering the fact that the winner takes it all and the losers bids a goodbye to the season. On the day, the KKR camp looked in total command of the game. They managed to restrict the Sunrisers Hyderabad to just 128/7 in their stipulated 20 overs.

KKR looked pleased with their effort but their worst fears awaited them. Soon after the last ball of the SRH innings was bowled, it started pouring down at the venue. The city of Bengaluru has been experiencing dark clouds and serious showers in the last couple of days. Prior to the commencement of the game, there was a weather forecast of heavy downpour later in the day.

The 4pm rain only strengthened the claim. However, much to the relief of both camps, the match started on time. Now, with the rain coming down yet again, there are speculations about the game and the possible outcomes. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be in the happy spot if the match gets called off.

Here is how the possible cases could unfold like:

#1 In case, there is no rain at all, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will go through based on their superior position in the league stage points table.

#2 For a complete 20 over run chase, the cutoff time is 11:50 pm (local time).

#3 A minimum of 5 overs have to be played in the KKR innings. For the 5 over game to get underway, the cutoff time is 12:58 am (local). In that case, the target for KKR would be 41 runs.

#4 In case, even the 5 over innings is not being played, both teams will play a Super Over. The cutoff time for the Super Over is 1:20 am (local). This is because of the fact that the playoff games have an extra buffer time of 120 minutes.

Note: There is no reserve day for the Eliminator and the Qualifiers. The Final has a reserve day.
