IPL 2018: An awestruck Amitabh Bachchan by the quality of cricket on display

The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already been a witness to some riveting encounters. Most of the games have gone right down to the wire, which has kept the audience on the edge of their seats till the very end. Teams have fought their hearts out and have served some enthralling cricket for the viewers to cherish.

There have been a few one-sided encounters, but the number of close games has helped the event garner a massive popularity among the audience, which can be seen in the spike in viewership. The opening contest between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Mumbai Indians (MI), where Dwayne Bravo brought the visitors in contention for a victory from a state of hopelessness, set the tone for the event.

A plethora of cliffhangers

Ever since every other team has been involved in at least one heart-racing thriller. Mumbai and Chennai have had contrasting fortunes. While the former has stuttered in crunch moments, the latter has managed to display an unflappable temperament. Recently, the league also had some exciting matches where teams have managed to defend modest totals.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) brushed aside the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla and got the taste of their own medicine and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pinned them in another low-scoring humdinger. The Sunrisers also managed to rip apart Rohit Sharma’s franchise at the Wankhede Stadium. The tournament is not even half-way and the entertainment quotient is also at the helm.

Meanwhile, the games have also left several eminent personalities in awe courtesy of the quality of cricket on the pitch. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood veteran actor, took to Twitter and expressed his delight for the excitement the league has dished out thus far. He wrote.
