India is a nation where cricket is a religion and all the cricketers are like godly figures for their millions of fans. There have been many instances in the past when the fans have crossed certain levels and barriers to get a glimpse of their favourite cricketer in close. A similar incident took place on Saturday at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, in New Delhi, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 encounter between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). During the clash, a fan holed the security and invaded the pitch, in order to click a selfie with the RCB skipper Virat Kohli.

The astonishing incident took place during the fifth over of RCB’s chase, when Kohli was batting in the middle along with AB de Villiers, as the duo were trying to stick a partnership to get close to the total set by the Daredevils. Amidst the nervy run-chase suddenly a fan crossed the security officials to enter the field and rushed to the non-striker’s end at the Indian captain. The fan first touched the RCB skipper’s feet and then wanted to click a selfie with him. However, the Kohli fan’s historic moment came to a dramatic end as the security officials quickly took him off the field.
It was a very emotional moment for both the fan and the Indian captain as the top-rated cricketer has always had a special place in his heart for all his fans and followers. The master-class of ABD and Kohli finally comes to the party
While batting first, the Daredevils lost early wickets as RCB’s lead spinner Yuzvendra Chahal removed both the openers in his first two overs. The swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant held the innings together with yet another quick and explosive half-century, which helped his side post a challenging total of 181 runs. India U19 all-rounder Abhishek Sharma also played a crucial cameo of 46 runs off 19 balls in his debut IPL game.
In the important run-chase, the two of the best batsmen Kohli and ABD finally came to the party, as the duo stitched a match-winning 118-run partnership. The South African batsman once again played his natural game in his unbeaten knock which included 6 sixes and steered his team to a victory.
