The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) haven’t had a memorable run thus far in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise hasn’t been up to the mark and is currently staring down the barrel as far as qualification for the playoffs is concerned. They are presently placed in the seventh position of the points table with three wins from ten matches.
There have been flashes of brilliance from the players, but they haven’t performed well enough as a unit to give their opponents a run for their money. They have three matches remaining and RCB need to win all of them and then hope for the net-run-rate and the results of the other matches to go in their favour. Virat Kohli’s men now face the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.
A mountain to climb for the Challengers
Despite boasting of some of the colossus names of world cricket including the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, they have strained to string together some impressive performances. The Challengers have made several chops and changes in a bid to find the most appropriate combination. Unfortunately, they haven’t quite been able to get their act together.
AB de Villiers, who was considered to be one of their gun batsmen, hasn’t quite been able to meet the desired expectations. He played a couple of match-winning knocks against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). However, apart from that, the middle-order batsman hasn’t been up to scratch. He suffered from viral fever and was ruled out for a couple of games.
After his comeback, the Pretoria-born cricketer has struggled to find his fluency while batting. Nevertheless, the 34-year old player is confident about RCB’s chances in the league. The veteran delivered a message to his fans and the same was posted on the franchise’s official Twitter handle.
