The wicket-keepers set was the first to be revealed in the post-lunch session of the ongoing mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). There were a lot of attractive players available in the list with most of the Indian players going under the hammer. The specialist behind the stumps is extremely important in the shortest format of the game. However, Dinesh Karthik was the one who garnered a lot of bids in the bidding war and snapped a reasonable amount of Rs. 7.4 Crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders bagged him after fighting it out with Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. Wridhhiman Saha was the next one who is a remarkable T20 player and has the ability to open the innings. He was snapped up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 5 Crore which was again a smart buy from the franchise. Sanju Samson was the most expensive player among the wicket-keepers and was sold for Rs. 8 Crore to Rajasthan Royals.

KKR use RTM for Uthappa

Robin Uthappa was also a hot pick as three teams were looking to pick him. However, he was bought back by Kolkata Knight Riders as they used Right to Match (RTM) card for him and will pay a total amount of Rs. 6.4 Crore to him. The likes of Jonny Bairstow, Parthiv Patel and Naman Ojha went unsold with no side showing interest in them. Quinton de Kock, the talented South African, could only collect Rs. 2.8 Crore and was a bargain buy for RCB which was surprising.

Ambati Rayudu almost went unsold before Mumbai Indians went for him but was eventually bought by CSK for a reasonable amount of Rs. 2.2 Crores. However, everyone’s eyes were on Jos Buttler who was the last of the wicket-keepers to go under the hammer and will play for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season.
