The Kolkata Knight Riders are all set to enter the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a revamped setup. They have made some massive changes to their side ahead of the tournament. While the motto of the team seems to be looking forward, they are trying to get back people from the past as well. The KKR camp recently called back Mike Horn to join the roster this season.
Many might wonder who this person is. He is not the most prominent name for the fans of the cricketing action. But the ones related to the sport know a great deal about Mike Horn. He is a ‘motivator’ who works with the teams and their players in the mental aspect of the game. On his official website, he describes himself as an ‘Explorer’.
Reportedly, he is in India and has already landed in Kolkata. Horn watched the KKR camp practice on Monday. He was present during the entire duration of the session. As per the reports in The Telegraph India, the officials confirmed his presence. The KKR CEO noted that Mike Horn will not be present with the team for the entire duration of the tournament but will spend considerable amount of time with the players.
“He of course won’t be staying for the entire duration of the IPL. He will be there for seven days… He is one of the best motivators in the world and has also worked with us previously,” Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore quoted.
Successful track record
It is worth noting that Mike Horn has a very successful track record. Back in 2014, when the Kolkata Knight Riders had won the IPL trophy, Horn was associated with the time. In fact, Horn was also with the Indian team when they had won the ICC World Cup in 2011. Furthermore, Horn’s presence was a big factor during the Germany’s successful campaign in the Football World Cup.
