Former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum is a globe trotter in the world cricket at the moment. McCullum retired from international cricket a couple of seasons ago but has managed to stay connected to the game. Currently, he plays the shortest format of the game across the globe in the different T20 leagues. At present, he is plying his trade for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2018.
Brendon McCullum, earlier this season, was seen leading the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League 2018. He was unfortunate to have failed to lead his side to the playoffs in the tournament. Prior to that, McCullum played for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2017-18. In the ongoing edition of the IPL, he has got a couple of good starts but is yet to come up with a trademark big innings.
At the RCB camp, the former New Zealand skipper is playing under the leadership of Virat Kohli. As per the recent quotes in an interview video posted by ESPNcricinfo, Brendon McCullum spoke about how it feels to play under the busiest cricketer of the world cricket.
‘Incredibly inspiring’
McCullum noted that he finds Virat Kohli incredibly inspiring. He commended the way Virat has been shouldering the responsibility of the team. Also, the way he consistently comes up with good performances is worth serious appreciation. Furthermore, the former cricketer appreciates the fact that Kohli gives immense importance to the fitness aspect of the game.
The point that strikes the best is that Kohli understands he is in such a supreme position in India from wherein he can inspire a lot of people. McCullum was in full praise of Kohli for being an inspiration for so many people not just in India but across the globe.
Currently, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the bottom half of the points table in the IPL 2018. They are on the brink of elimination. Skipper Virat Kohli is the leading run scorer for the team in the season thus far.
