The IPL 2018 Auctions saw quite a few young colts enter the big bucks club. The youngster attracted big bids owing to the talents that they possess. While the players fetching big money have been making the news, there stands another youngster, who was bought for just INR 30 lakh at the auction. Aryaman Birla, who has a very powerful background, was bought by the Rajasthan Royals at the auctions.
Despite the fact that his father is a billionaire, Aryaman Birla is content with the bid that he got at the auctions. Aryaman, son of business tycoon Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, recently thanked the Rajasthan Royals for buying him at the auctions. He quoted the opportunity to play in the IPL as an honor.
“Just want to thank the Rajasthan Royals for buying me at the IPL auctions. Being a part of this team is a real honour and an amazing opportunity for me. I think there is going to be so much to learn from a lot of amazing people around the team. So I am really looking forward to a brilliant IPL season and just want to thank Rajasthan Royals once again,” quoted Aryaman Birla.
Huge learning curve
Aryaman will be sharing the dressing room with the likes of Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, and Ajinkya Rahane. He reckons that it will be a big learning curve for him. He expressed his excitement about the same. Furthermore, he revealed that he moved to Madhya Pradesh in search of better opportunities, as Mumbai was not offering much chances to him.
“It is a huge learning curve for me. For a young cricketer, this is a huge opportunity and I am really excited to be part of the side and share the dressing room with so many legends,” Aryaman was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
“I moved to MP some three years ago. I wasn’t getting opportunities in Mumbai, and that’s when I got a chance to play for Rewa district in MP. Even coming to that team was not easy; I had to perform to book a place. I am glad I did that,” he mentioned.
The 20-year old has played only one First Class game and had mustered 22 runs across the two innings. The official social media handle of the Rajasthan Royals posted a video featuring him recently.
