IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevils CEO defends Mohammed Shami's selection
Mohammed Shami is currently representing the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
Mohammed Shami’s tussle with wife Hasin Jahan has worsened with the passage of time. Jahan accused him of multiple charges. However, after a couple of weeks, Shami was given a clean chit and he was awarded a Grade-B contract by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who withheld his contract earlier. The cricketer is currently playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
The decision has irked Hasin Jahan and she has approached Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and CK Khanna, the acting president of the BCCI. Meanwhile, Vinod Dua, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has mentioned that personal and personal life should never be mixed and should always be prioritized as separate entities.
The justification for Mohammed Shami
“As a player, he has been cleared by the BCCI, so he plays. On a cricketing side, that’s where the matter stops. I am not going to stop him play because of personal problems because if I do that, everyone’s personal lives will get immersed,” Dua was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Shami recently played against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. The CEO also mentioned that the probable reactions of people on seeing Shami play in the city despite charges against him. “I am sure everyone is wondering how come he (Shami) is playing in Kolkata despite having charges. I have full faith in the police investigations,” he added.
In a recent development, Hasin Jahan has filed a complaint against Shami pertaining to domestic complaint after which the Kolkata Police has asked the Indian fast-bowler to attend an interrogation by the cops. Also, Jahan has claimed Rs 10 Lakh maintenance fee every month for her and her daughter. For the time being, further developments surrounding the matter awaits Shami, Jahan and the fans.
