Veteran Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is very excited to be back in the Chennai Super Kings colors in the Indian Premier League this season. Bravo, who played for the Gujarat Lions in the last two seasons, had to bow out of the tournament last year mid way due to an injury. This year, he is fit and is raring to play for the franchise where he has tasted immense success.
Bravo, during his stint with the CSK team from 2011 to 2015, managed to bag the Purple Cap on two occasions. He has been a very successful death overs bowler for the franchise. Recently, as per the quotes on the official CSK website, Dwayne Bravo credited his good skills with the ball in the death overs to MS Dhoni. He remarked that he got better in the skill owing to the faith that Dhoni kept showing in him over the years. Also, he hailed Dhoni’s leadership skills as one of the best in the game.
“He has shown a lot of faith in me, the trust. For me it’s all about preparation. I always like bowling to MS in the end (in practice sessions) as he is one of the best finishers in the game and I challenge myself by bowling to him. I always give him a scenario, sometimes I win and sometimes he wins,” Dwayne Bravo quoted.
“As a leader he is one of the best that has every played the game, he allows players to express themselves, allows them to learn from their mistakes. He’s very cool, very calm and that’s very good,” he added further.
On the big tournament opener
The Chennai Super Kings will face off against the Mumbai Indians in the season opener this year. The rivalry between the two sides has been glorious in the IPL history. Dwayne Bravo called it the ‘El Clasico’ of cricket and noted that such big games get the best out of him.
“It’s really the El Clasico, two of the biggest franchises in IPL history… two of the most successful franchises. I’m looking forward to it… everyone’s looking forward to it. I don’t think there can be a bigger tournament opener than this one. These kinds of games, they really get me going,” Bravo remarked.
