The road for the third and fourth placed teams of the round-robin phase won’t be a walk in the park in order for them to win the championship. Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals need to win three matches on the trot from now onwards to bag the 2018 Indian Premier League. Both teams will now be pitted against each other in the Eliminator at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The franchises are in superb touch having racked up thumping victories in their erstwhile matches. The contest may be a tad in favour of the Knight Riders for the fact that they will be playing at their home venue. The Men in Gold and Purple will be going into the match on the back of three wins and will be keen to keep their winning streak intact and move to play the Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Moreover, KKR have beaten Ajinkya Rahane’s men a couple of times earlier. The Royals won’t be having their big guns in Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, however, RR have shown that they can rise to the occasion even without their big guns with their win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, teams need to bear in mind that there’s no room for complacency in their upcoming endeavour.
Rain threats?
As per reports in Accuweather, there are chances of heavy rain in the afternoon from 12 pm where the numbers are 51 percent. During the match, there will also be chances of rain. A significant amount of clouds will hover above the stadium throughout the entire duration of the match.
Overall verdict
The dew factor is also expected to play a part with the numbers in the range of 25 and 26. Hence, the side batting second may have the advantage.
