IPL 2018: Hardik Pandya has an emotional message for injured Ishan Kishan

The youngster didn't take further part in the match after being hit on his face.

Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their first victory of this season while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium. It was a much-needed victory for them but during the match, they suffered a huge blow with an injury to their young wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. The ball was struck on his face badly while collecting a throw and Kishan was down on the ground. However, Hardik Pandya has now apologised to him as he had fired in a throw from the deep.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the innings when RCB were chasing the total of 214 runs. Virat Kohli pulled uppishly the short ball from Jasprit Bumrah which was half-stopped by the mid-wicket fielder. The speed of the ball slowed down and their gun fielder Pandya picked up and fired in a throw in order to save the second run. But the ball pitched on one of the dark patches of the pitch and it bounced awkwardly for Ishan Kishan only to hit near his eyes as the youngster was hurt badly.

Eventually, Ishan Kishan had to walk away from the ground as the injury was swelling on his face and thankfully it didn’t hurt his left eye. Everyone including Hardik Pandya and the opposition skipper Virat Kohli looked worried at the time when he fell down after getting hit. Meanwhile, Hardik has issued an apology to the wicketkeeper on Twitter and has hoped that he recovers from the blow soon while posting a picture of them being together. “Mera cutie pie Sorry bhai! Stay strong, @ishankishan23,” he captioned the picture.

Ishan Kishan has been the crucial player in the batting line-up for MI this season and has been doing well at number 3 for them. It remains to be seen if he becomes fit for their next match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 22.
