The much-awaited moment of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing in front of their home crowd has finally arrived. They will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in some time at MA Chidambaram Stadium which is almost jam-packed. But the toss for the game has been delayed for a unique reason as the fans continued to wait eagerly. However, the main reason for the same is that the match officials have not yet reached the Stadium following the protests outside the Stadium.
The scenes from the Stadium suggests that the captains are ready in the middle with the commentator Ian Bishop for the toss but they are awaiting the arrival of the match officials who are stuck outside the Stadium. There have been protests outside the Stadium following Cauvery Row in the State and it is being believed that it is almost impossible to enter the venue easily.
KKR reached late?
Amidst all the confusion, there were also the reports that Kolkata Knight Riders team bus reached only after 7 PM in the Stadium. But their skipper Dinesh Karthik was ready standing with MS Dhoni for the toss very much in time. The popular cricket analyst Harsh Bhogle confirmed the news on Twitter that the match officials were yet to arrive in the Stadium and hence the toss was delayed.
What happened at the toss?
Finally, after the delay of 15 minutes, the toss took place as the famous captain in the city MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first. CSK included Shardul Thakur and Sam Billings in place of Mark Wood and Kedar Jadhav. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand, handed the IPL debut to Tom Curran as he replaced Mitchell Johnson in the line-up.
