The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have won four out of their six games and are well and truly in the race for qualifying for the playoffs in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rashid Khan, the leg-break bowler from Afghanistan, has been stupendous and has played a major role in their victories. However, the tweaker has had off days as well.

He was smashed for six sixes by Chris Gayle, which also included four sixes on the trot by the bulk-like Jamaican batsman. Subsequently, he finished with his most expensive spell in the cash-rich tournament against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). In the next game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he dismissed Faf du Plessis but was again taken for quite a few amounts of runs by Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu.

“A part of the game”- Rashid Khan

However, he came and bagged the Player of the Match award against the Mumbai Indians. Recently, the leggie spoke about the significance of bad patches in order for a career to flourish. “Till you don’t get hit, you don’t learn. It happens, it’s a part of the game, I’m learning a lot of things from it after giving 55 and 48 runs in the last two games,” Rashid was quoted as saying by The Hindustan Times.

“What I should have done that time, that’s what coaches told me…everyone, especially Muttiah Murali sir, Tom Moody and VVS Laxman. We had a good chat before this game and the only thing was to be positive. Some bad days happen in a player’s career and you learn from that, try not to repeat from that. That’s what I was doing today, got the basics right and you can see the result” he added.

Despite a couple of poor outings in the league, Rashid Khan has impressive figures having picked up six wickets in as many matches. SRH are currently sitting in the third position, below MS Dhoni’s team. Albeit Kane Williamson’s team are in a good position, they can’t afford to be complacent, as their rivals are breathing down the necks of each other.
