The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are being praised a lot for their spirited performances in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Their run to the finals was absolutely inspirational under the leadership of Kane Williamson who was only appointed at the helm after David Warner was banned from playing the tournament at the eleventh hour. The Kiwi was magnificent as a leader of the pack and mesmerized everyone with his batting. However, he has now come up with a heartfelt message and has thanked the fans for supporting his team.

The Sunrisers were the first to qualify for the playoffs and were the table toppers after the league stage as well. Unfortunately, they lost their way at the fag end and lost 4 matches on the bounce which affected the momentum they gained. Though they came back strongly by winning the second qualifier against the KKR at the Eden Gardens only to lose the title clash to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. They ended the season as the runners-up but won the hearts of their fans with a brilliant show throughout the season.

Kane’s message

Kane Williamson led from the front for his team by becoming the only player to score over 700 runs in the tournament. He amassed 735 runs in the 17 matches he played at an amazing average of 52.50 and a strike-rate of 142.44. Moreover, he was so consistent at the top of the order as he went on to notch up as many as eight scores over 50. He deserved to end up on the winning side in the final but was unfortunate as Shane Watson just ripped apart the bowling attack of the SRH.

He has thanked all the fans for their immense support this year and has revealed that it was indeed a privilege to lead a talented bunch of cricketers. “Privileged to have represented the @sunrisershyd this season with a great group of fellas. Big thanks to all our Sunriser’s fans for your support #orangearmy #ipl @graynics,” his message read.
