The third day of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) saw two captaincy debuts in the tournament in Kane Williamson and Ajinkya Rahane. The skipper has many responsibilities but the toughest thing for him is to remember the names of his teammates or the changes he has made from the previous game. Williamson had a similar experience at the toss on Monday as he forgot the name of his fourth overseas recruit in the playing XI only to be reminded by Rahane that he was none other than Shakib Al Hasan.
The atmosphere in Hyderabad ahead of the the first home game for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was absolutely electric which is always the case. Moreover, the excitement was increased by Danny Morrison during the toss who is always animated. Though all the happenings in the surrounding can take a toll on the skippers and they goof up things spectacularly. Recently, it was Chamara Kapugedera, on his captaincy debut, who opted to bat mistakenly after winning the toss while it was decided in the team meeting that they would bowl first.
Captains enjoy the funny moment
It was toss time at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad as Kane Williamson flipped the coin in the air only to win it and opted to bowl first. However, during the interview, he forgot to name all the four overseas players in the playing XI when Morrison asked him about the team combination. “Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake, Myself and we have one more, ” he replied as Rahane was quick to remind him that he had missed out on the name of Shakib Al Hasan which burst out the laughter among them.
It was certainly a candid moment in the middle for everyone ahead of the intense encounter which was to follow in some time. As far as the match is concerned, the home side thumped Royals by nine wickets as it was a comprehensive performance from them.
