The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen many exciting and sporting rivals between the different teams contesting every year in the Twenty20 tournament. The ongoing eleventh edition has also been one heck of sensation and remarkable season so far and many rivalries have taken the centre stage, which has also been handled in a pretty competitive manner.
The final day of the league stages hosted two exciting games, first was between the Delhi Daredevils (DD) against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the next was where Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were up against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
In the first game, the Daredevils demolished MI’s hopes of qualifying into the playoffs and brought an end to their quest of defending the title. The defending champions failed to record a victory in the must-win encounter, as they lost to Delhi by 11 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. However, their loss meant that either of KXIP and Rajasthan Royals could claim the final spot in the final four.
Due to their dismal Net Run Rate (NRR), Kings had to win their last league match against CSK by a margin of 53 runs or more to surpass the Royals in the final points tally. KXIP failed to restrict the opposition at the asked total and also lost the game by 5 wickets, which brought an end to their campaign due to the disappointing performances in the second half of the tournament.
KXIP and DD engages in a funny trolling banter
During the final game of the league stages of IPL 2018 between KXIP and CSK, the former franchise’s official Twitter handle came up with an impudent comment against the DD franchise. ‘See you in IPL 2019’, commented the KXIP official Twitter handle on a tweet. However, after CSK’s sensational victory against KXIP, which also castled their hopes of securing a place into the IPL 2018 playoffs, the Daredevils posted an exciting revenge-taking message to troll its rival team.
“Ghar se nikalte he…Kuch dur chalte he, ” read the message posted by the official Twitter handle of Delhi Daredevils.
