The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 will be between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. None of these sides have won the title in the past 10 editions with the former reaching closest in 2014 when they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring final.

The Daredevils, on the other hand, had a good start to their IPL journey, reaching the semi-finals for the first two years but only saw their form sliding thereafter. Their last entry into the playoff stages was in 2012 and have not been able to cross the league stage hurdle in the last five years. A team with a lot of potential, DD have been a surprising failure in the IPL under various captains.

Both the sides have picked fresh new captains for this tournament – KXIP going for Ravichandran Ashwin and DD for their local lad Gautam Gambhir who is the second most successful captain in the tournament with two title wins along with Chennai Super Kings’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

How have the meetings between the two teams in the IPL gone in the last 10 years? The Kings have an 11-9 advantage over the Daredevils in the 20 matches they have played in this time (none of them were in the knockout/playoff stage). Here is a look at the brief results of their matches:
