Winning or losing is a habit and Mumbai Indians (MI) have got the habit of losing last over thrillers it seems in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The time has come for them to make amends for their 4 last over losses and up their game big time. If they don’t manage to come back on the winning track, this season might get over soon for the defending champions. However, they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium who also suffered a similar fate in their last game.

Against Royals, it seemed that they will win easily only for their death bowlers to crumble under pressure in the last couple of overs. But the same bowlers had brought them back in the game earlier with key wickets. The batting had to be blamed which failed to finish it properly after a wonderful start from the top order. Each and every player has to put their hands up now in order to bring back the winning momentum somehow.

Here we bring you the predicted XI of Mumbai Indians:

Openers (Suryakumar Yadav, Evin Lewis)

Suryakumar Yadav has been exemplary form ever since he has started to open the innings for his team. He has perfectly settled into his role and has played few gems at the top to give Mumbai very good starts. Even in the last match, his 72-run knock had set the platform for them and with the worrying form of the finishers in the side, he will have to take care of staying until the last over.

Evin Lewis too has been in great touch and has displayed his power. It has been everything or nothing for him which is the problem. The Caribbean cricketer has to be consistent and has to get himself in before playing extravagant shots. He has been guilty of playing too many shots. If he gets his eye in, he can hunt the leather throughout the innings and that is what Lewis should try.

Middle Order (Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, JP Duminy)

Ishan Kishan has been in excellent form so far this season. He has amassed 151 runs in 5 innings at an average of over 30 and a strike rate of 145.19. He would be itching to play a long innings now as he has been throwing it away after getting to 50. Even against Royals, he needlessly tried a ramp shot which triggered the collapse. The youngster will be eager to take the team through if he gets set again in this game.

Rohit Sharma has to lead from the front as the skipper if Mumbai are to make a stunning comeback this season. The vintage Hitman hasn’t arrived so far and though he scored 94 against RCB, it remains his only significant contribution with the bat.  JP Duminy might come in at the expense of the struggling Kieron Pollard for this game which will give them an extra bowling option as well. The left-hander can tonk the ball a fair way and the time has come for him to feature in this side.

All-Rounders (Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya)

Krunal Pandya’s form with the bat has dipped a bit and the team is suddenly facing problems to finish the innings on a high. He has been contributing nicely with the ball and in the field but Krunal is a much better batsman and needs to replicate his form in the last season. If he is able to do that, then the Mumbai line-up will again look completely and the big scores could be gunned down easily.

Pandya brothers are going through a rough patch in batting department as Hardik is also having the same issue. he was undone by a corker of a delivery the other day by Jofra Archer but the talented cricketer is yet to contribute with the bat for his team this year. His bowling is up to the mark though and the team management wouldn’t be much worried about that aspect.

Bowlers (Mayank Markande, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman)

Mayank Markande is the purple cap holder with 8 wickets so far but all his efforts have come in the losing cause. Individually, he has looked a champion and is already being touted as the find of the season for Mumbai. It is important though that he stays calm and keep on performing for his team. Mitchell McClenaghan has blown hot and cold so far and the Kiwi pacer needs to find his rhythm on a consistent basis now. There might be only a few chances left for him with the likes of Ben Cutting sitting out from the team.

Jasprit Bumrah has come under the scanner for bowling the no-ball once again in the last game. Thankfully it didn’t cost much as far as the runs are concerned but the extra delivery in the close run-chases always proves to be crucial. It is important that he keeps his head high and bowl well in the upcoming matches as no one has any doubts about his talent. Mustafizur too has done his job perfectly but the skipper would be wanting wickets from him in the middle overs and then he can come back and strangle the opposition batsmen.
