IPL 2018, Match 23: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – 10 best memes/gifs

In one of the weirdest games of the IPL history, the Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the defending champs Mumbai Indians yesterday at the Wankhede Stadium and put their chances of playoffs qualification to jeopardy. Having been put to bat first on a tacky surface, Hyderabad was bundled out for just 118 and many people would have thought the game was over as to defend such a low total against the powerhouse batting line-up of Mumbai and that too in their backyard is almost unthinkable.

But the Hyderabad bowling unit, which was not at its strongest in the absence of two of their premier bowlers, still stepped up to the plate and put on arguably the best bowling performance of this year’s IPL to make sure the hosts couldn’t even get close to the target. It was totally unbelievable for everyone watching the game as the stocks were so highly stocked in favour of Mumbai after the first innings.

Hyderabad’s Mister reliable with the ball Rashid Khan who had gone for a few runs in the last two games marked a return in form with an outstanding spell of spin bowling as he broke the backbone of Mumbai’s middle order with two crucial wickets. Although Siddarth Kaul bowled almost equally well and ended up with a three-for, it was Rashid’s spell in the middle phase of the Mumbai innings which made the biggest difference.

This was Mumbai’s 5th loss in IPL 11 and they are now only a couple of defeats away from getting eliminated from the tournament. They were one of the firm favourites at the start of the tourney, but the way they have fared up so far has been shocking to say the least, not only for their own fans but for the pundits and experts as well.

Over the years, it’s been Mumbai fans who have been trolling the others after winning the trophies, but right now as they are down on the mat, it’s revenge time for the others as they are making sure they give the Mumbai fans a taste of their own medicine.
