Sunrisers Hyderabad once again showed the depth of their bowling attack as they successfully defended a total of 132 against KXIP. The home team could only finish with 132/6 on the board despite Manish Pandey’s 54-run knock after they lost three wickets in first five overs. Kings XI Punjab were cruising through in the chase with yet another fifty-run stand between Chris Gayle and KL Rahul. The home team spinners produced an opening with wickets at regular intervals before the pacers ran through the lower order.

Ankit Rajpoot was the standout performer for visiting side with figures of 5/14 in his four overs. His match performances were valued at 1.215 crores as per the CricTracker’ player value algorithm. Despite ending on the losing side, Rajpoot was named the man of the match for his exceptional bowling which helped KXIP to contain the SRH batsmen. Manoj Tiwary, who came in place of Yuvraj Singh, couldn’t make any difference as he ended as liable player of the game. He scored only one run with the bat and conceded ten runs in the only over he bowled with an interesting bowling action.

One might have thought Manish Pandey’s innings cost the game for Sunrisers as ended up with only 132/6 on the board. Pandey not only survived through a tough phase of wickets falling at the other end but also survived by a couple of catches that helped him to bat long. The Indian batsman’s innings was valued at 66.5 lakhs including the two catches he took on the field. Pandey’s match performances might not be valued equal to his match salary but he did enough to help his team to win.

Rashid Khan turned out to be the most valuable player for SRH once again as he returned with figures of 3/19 in his four overs. His match performances earned him a value of 71 lakhs which was the highest among the SRH players. Shakib Al Hasan’s all-round performances included a 29-ball 28 to share a 52-run stand for the 4th wicket with Pandey and two wickets in the three overs with the ball.
