The Delhi Daredevils got their IPL 11 campaign back on track last night by thumping the Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs at the Firoz Shah Kotla Ground in match 26 of the Indian Premier League 2018. The match saw some crazy six hitting from Delhi’s newly appointed Captain Shreyas Iyer who led his team from the front on his captaincy debut and powered the hosts to a total of 219 which was well above par and proved to be beyond the reach of KKR.

Earlier Delhi made a huge call of dropping the former skipper Gautam Gambhir from the playing XI and slot Colin Munro at the top of the order with Prithvi Shaw. While the move received a lot of backlash from all quarters, it actually worked as Munro and Shaw teed off in the power-play and gave Delhi the brisk start they had not been getting in the last few games.

The middle order thereafter capitalized on that start brilliantly. Iyer, in particular, made sure he didn’t let Delhi lose momentum as he went berserk in the last 4 overs and smashed sixes to all quarters of the ground to finish with 93 off just 40 balls.

Although Kotla is a small ground and the pitch was good for batting, 219 was still a bit too much for KKR to chase and to make it worse, they lost their top 3 batsmen inside the first 6 overs which virtually ruled them out of the game. The young Shubman Gill and Andre Russell stitched together a handy partnership in the second half of the innings and for a brief period, it seemed as if they could make a game out of that, but the DD bowlers kept their nerves under pressure and KKR eventually remained well short of the target.

Gautam Gambhir fans, who were initially bashing the Delhi Daredevils hierarchy for their poor management of senior players after the left-hander was dropped, got trolled later as Delhi ended up on the right side of the result.

Here are some of the funniest memes/gifs trolling Gambhir fans-
