The Delhi Daredevils got back to the winning ways with a win in their most recent encounter. They beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs in a home game. Coming in to the game, they were under tremendous pressure to win. With just one win in the season prior to that game, they knew they had to win 7 out of their 8 remaining fixtures. Well, riding on the heroics of their new skipper, Shreyas Iyer, they have got one win.

However, they cannot relax one bit. Still, the equation for them to qualify remains complex as they need to win six out of their remaining seven games. With this backdrop, they are now set to play an away game against the heavy-weights Chennai Super Kings. CSK has been in top form in the season and are among the toppers in the points table. However, Delhi Daredevils will take some confidence from their win in the previous game.

Also, they will know that the Super Kings will be a little short on confidence, after having lost their previous home game against the Mumbai Indians. In any case, the equation is direct for the double Ds. They have to win the game to stay alive in the competition. And to do so, they will have to put forth their best possible playing combinations.

Here is a look at the Delhi Daredevils Predicted XI for the match:

Openers (Colin Munro, Prithvi Shaw)

The opening woes of the Delhi Daredevils finally came to an end in the previous game. Colin Munro and Prithvi Shaw provided a brisk start to the DD side against KKR. Munro played the attacking game right from the word go and hammered a quick 33 off 18 deliveries. His exploits let Shaw settle down at the other end.

Later, Shaw took the anchoring role and started playing his shots freely. He scored a brilliant fifty in the game, and became the youngest player to his an IPL fifty. Also, what this essentially means is that Gautam Gambhir could miss out another game.

Middle-Order (Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell)

The middle-order looks very strong for the Delhi Daredevils on the paper. Shreyas Iyer, the newly appointed captain has been in sublime form. He hammered a brilliant 93 off 40 deliveries in the previous game and will be high on confidence. Also, he had scored another fifty in the game that preceded the match against the Knights.

Iyer is followed by Rishabh Pant at number four. Pant has been among the consistent players for the Daredevils this season. Last game was a major blip though, as he was dismissed for a duck. He has consistently got starts and has managed to convert a couple of them to big scores too. The team will want him to play his natural game.

The Indian duo of Iyer and Pant is followed by Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell is a proven hitter of the cricket ball and his exploits with the willow in hand are well knock. Maxwell, however, is yet to score big in the IPL 2018. With the ball in hand, he has proven to be the dark horse for his team. In the last game, he managed to take the big wicket of Chris Lynn early on in the game.

All-rounders (Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia)

The all-rounders department of the Delhi Daredevils camp received a major setback with Chris Morris getting injured. Morris’ departure meant the pressure was directly on the Indian all-rounders. Albeit they were not tested in the previous game, one would believe that they will be under the pump in the matches to follow.

Vijay Shankar and Rahul Tewatia are likely to retain their places in the side. Vijay Shankar has not got a lot of opportunities to play in the season. Also, he has not been tested with the ball much. On the other hand, Tewatia has only had limited opportunities, most of which he has managed to let it slip away.

Fast bowlers (Liam Plunkett, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan)

In the fast bowling department, the Delhi camp will be happy to see more bowlers chipping in. Earlier, it was only Trent Boult who was handling all the pressure. The likes of Mohammed Shami seemed to be giving no support to Boult. Boult did not let that bog his spirits down and continued to excel in his performances.

Much to his delight, he now has some very good support from Liam Plunkett. Plunkett announced his arrival in the IPL in fine fashion. On his IPL debut, Plunkett scalped 3/17 to impress many. More recently, in the match against KKR, he again bowled a highly economical spell to keep things under control.

The overseas duo of Boult and Plunkett will be supported by Avesh Khan. Avesh has been among the top performers of week 3 in IPL 2018. In the previous game, he dismissed the dangerous Andre Russell to seal the fate of the game. He has bowled very tight lines with the new ball and has been impressive in the death overs as well.

Spinners (Amit Mishra)

Amit Mishra is likely to retain his place in the side in the capacity of the specialist spinner. Mishra had played a key role in the previous game against the Knight Riders. He bowled a maiden in the crucial of the match when Andre Russell and Shubman Gill were going all guns blazing. Mishra has a lot of experience of bowling on tough wickets and he will be a key part of the lineup for the Delhi Daredevils.
