The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are having a tad indifferent campaign in the ongoing version of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite the stutter, they have managed to string together four victories in eight attempts and are placed in the fourth position in the league table. Their upcoming contest is against the might of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who have been in red-hot form recently.

The CSK batsmen have been in stupendous touch and have delivered the goods in almost every game, which will keep the franchise in good stead. Their bowling is a bit of a concern, but they haven’t allowed them to unnerve them. The franchise is currently at the helm of the points table and are brimming with positive vibes and would be keen to carry their rich vein of form.

The track at the Eden Gardens has assisted the batsmen with occasional help for the spinners. MS Dhoni’s men are on the brink of securing a berth in the playoffs. On the contrary, the Knights still have a fair distance to travel before they attain security in terms of qualification in the top four. CSK would start the game as favourites, however, KKR have the firepower to roll them over.

Match to be abandoned due to rain?

According to Accuweather, the weather forecast isn’t something to cheer for the teams. There are huge possibilities of the game being called off due to rain. From 11 am in the morning to 11:30 pm at night, there are chances of heavy rain, which might play spoilsport. Thunderstorms are expected to impose itself at around 5 pm and during the game, clouds will keep hovering over the stadium.

Overall verdict

Meanwhile, the fans as well the franchises would be hoping for the heavens to stay quiet for the duration of the game, which seems highly unlikely for the time being. Rain has threatened to mar a few games, but every game has had a result. Today’s game might be the first to be washed off, provided the downpour persists a significant amount of time.
